Award winning children's / fantasy book, and without doubt the best Gaiman I've read, and I'm very far from a fan of his.

Nobody Owens' family are brutally slain in a graveyard; he is the only survivor and ends up being brought up by, and amongst, the supernatural dwellers of the graveyard. A book that gets better and better as it progresses with a charming constructed reality that sits alongside a conventional reality.

On this book alone, I've decided to try more Gaiman after giving up on his work a few years ago. 8 out of 12... although the GIF below states what I think will happen when I read more Gaiman...

Rosh Okay, I confess... I am a Gaiman fan, but he does have his share of duds. Your review was quite entertaining! 😂 As this is a 2019 review, I am very curious. Did you pick up an Gaiman work after this? And if yes, how did you find them?

Baba Thanks for asking : ...as I predicted:

I Two Starred Stardust and One Starred Smokes & Mirrors!!!

Michelle F I also really like Gaiman, most of the time. I’m glad that at least this one worked out for you, Baba!

Michelle F .maybe you’d like Coraline? It’s the work I’d consider most similar to this one, but only in some ways. I myself love the Sandman series and Neverwhere.

Hi Michelle F, thank you for your comments :), Coraline is on my TBR. I thought Neverwhere was OK, but really struggled on a recent reread of the Sandman series!

Well you’ve sure given him a fair chance! That’s a lot more than I give to authors that I don’t really care for. I find everyone’s opinions so fascinating, and always enjoy your reviews, Baba :D

Ah ok. Those two books didn't work much for me too. Then again, I loved Neverwhere and I see it was just average for you. I sure appreciate your attempts to read so many of his works, though they didn't work out for you. I don't have that much patience these days. :)
