Whoever was responsible for the marketing of this book deserves a raise because they managed to make 600k+ people read this incredibly boring story.
Youtube Review:
I've been joking around and explaining not loving most Memoirs/Autobiographies and some Contemporaries by stating that "I just don't really care about people".
Clearly, it's far from the truth but... I'll make an exemption for these people.
Didn't care one bit.
Not sure if I'll watch the tv show...

It's 30-minute episode and free on CBC Gem. You should try one episode, the acting is really amazing.

I loved the show so I thought I’d read the book; but then I couldn’t read the book because it lacks speech marks.
The show literally made this book a whole different piece of literature. I HATED the book.
It works incredibly well as a TV show. Give it a try, I didn't care for the book yet ADORED the show.
I listened to the audiobook. The narration was fine, but the story was almost a DNF for me.

It had to be said. Both main characters annoyed me to death. I couldn't stand Marianne's lack of strength and the toxic friendships of hers. It was the first book I read this year. What a way to start off
My friend read this book and I asked her how it was. Her answer was something like: “After a while, you realize that they are indeed normal people and that’s boring.�

I would highly recommend the show than reading the book itself.

A snooze fest from start to end
Oh no. I have heard good things. I had this on my TBR. Now I am nervous.
You were slightly harsher than me (I gave it 2 stars) but I completely agree. I know there has been some pushback recently that unlikeable characters don't make a book bad, but I just can't deal with reading about main characters I hate. I read this books about a year ago, but from memory Connell wasn't too awful, and I cared about his storyline much more than Marianne's. She was just annoying and confusing. I hated the will they/won't they things that took up, to be honest, basically the whole book. Just overall, I don't get it. It's very rare that I rate a book under a 3 star, and ever rarer that I genuinely don't see how anyone enjoyed it but... this book fits both.
Bahaha this is how I feel after reading the book.. like I got duped by an instagram ad and spent too much money on a duvet cover or something. How is this book so popular??? Has to be the cover art, right?
