really liked it

Nadia is puzzled. Of late she has been finding objects in the pockets of her clothes. They do not belong to her - initially insignificant things like a piece of fudge, then more esoteric things, and then something alarming. Could her friends be playing a trick on her? No one admitted to contributing to the steadily growing number of objects that keep surfacing in her pockets. It drives her to distraction. What should she do?

How did this happen? More importantly, why is this happening? What does it mean? Nadia and her friends take on different experiments to fathom the mystery. What follows is an unexpected journey into the secrets of the universe and an even more astounding world of connection, one in which people who live in words, like you and me, will love.

Thank you, Cecily, for introducing me to this story and El-Mohtar.

Cecily A nicely tantalising review which will hopefully lead a few more people to this whimsical story.

I'm not sure the extraordinary novel she wrote with a friend (This Is How You Lose the Time War) would be to your taste, but I'm glad you enjoyed this.

Thank you, Cecily. This is a fun read! It's short too and just perfect for our current times.

Debbie Love your review! I read this last last night and was so excited, there was no getting to sleep! I read the last two paragraphs 3 times!! And I'm sure I'll go back for more rereads. This, this is why I love literature! (Ah, and thank you for finding this, which led to Cheri reading it, which led to me reading it.)

Bianca Great review. I'm glad I read it, too, it really appealed to me.

You remind me of something Paul did to me once.
One day I go out to my car to drive somewhere and a dollar bill slips out of shade above the steering wheel. Later I find another dollar bill tucked into the over- head sunglass case.
For days -I find a one dollar bills in every little nick and cranny in that car.

Another time it was quarters - about twenty dollars worth
Moral of his story to me: haha ..... make sure you have extra little cash & coins handy. You just never know!

Thanks again - sounds like a little gem 💎."

Ah, Elyse, you have a sweet hubby. :-) I hope you now have extra money on hand in the car. Yes, this story is a bit like that and more. Fast read - only 7 pages.

Thank you, Jim. Now I wish I know what Gaslight is all about. :-)

C. (Comment, never msg). Canadians love supporting and promoting their own, so I was glad our mutual peers showed me this short story too. Perhaps unlike others, I explored all her visible short stories and am nearly finished reviewing them. None are alike and they usually end full of hope, if not entirely happy.

Thank you, C, for stopping by this review and letting me know there are other wonderful short stories to read. :-) El-Mohtar is a promising author.
