really liked it
bookshelves: short-stories, 2020, magic, magical-realism, fantasy-fiction

It begins with a piece of fudge, this short story shared in seven pages, a mystery of sorts, a woman Nadia begins to find odd things in her coat pocket. This first ‘find doesn’t raise too questions in her mind, although she hated fudge and can’t imagine how it came to be in her pocket. And then a lipstick in a shade she’d never wear, and after that one after another, other items randomly appear.

A quirky and endearing story.

Many thanks to Laysee, whose review prompted me to read this.

Debbie This sounds fun. I’m changing my tune about magical realism; I like some of it now. I don’t think I can go wrong with 7 pages! Nice review!

Debbie OMG I just read this and absolutely loved it! Thank you for leading me to this teensy gem!

Cheri Thank you so much, Debbie, and I am so glad you loved it, too!

Angela M Got to read it! Sounds good!

Terrific to hear, Angela. Enjoy!

Laysee So pleased you enjoyed this little gem, Cheri. 😊 Thanks so much for sharing my review.

Cheri Thank you, Laysee, this was such a wonderful surprise for me, and I was happy to share your review.

Cecily It's lovely to see so many friends sharing this delightful confection.

Cheri Thank you, Cecily, I know how much I love finding these little gems and sharing them, myself, and appreciate so much when others point the way to them, as well.

Jennifer ~ TarHeelReader I think I need to read this, too, Cheri! Fab review!

Kevin Ansbro I'm not altogether sure if it was due to thermodynamics, or the spinning of mystic threads, but Laysee's review dropped into your pocket, yours into Debbie's and then Debbie's into mine!
Thank you, Cheri! : )

Derrick Cheri, glad that you also read it and your review perfect nails it.

Cheri Thank you so much, Jennifer! I re-read this again yesterday, just for the sheer joy of it. I think you'll love this!

Cheri Kevin, thank you so much for your comment - you made me smile from ear to ear. I love finding these little gems, it's one of the blessings from goodreads that they are passed along like love notes in 7th grade.

Cheri Derrick, thank you so much, I will have to check out yours now. I think Laysee originally found this through Cecily. Love the way these make the rounds on here.

Kimber Silver An endearing story, indeed! Lovely review, Cheri! Thank you for sharing! I'll be posting a review shortly. :-)

Kathleen Cheri, thank you for sharing this quirky little story. Love your review.

Deanna Very nice review!!

C. (Comment, never msg). I loved it and have read "The Truth About Owls", which is profound too. Do you wonder what went on with the violinist who received the fudge? Do object gift recipients join the reciprocal magic circle? It bugs me that short stories can seldom be explanatory or feel complete but 4 stars are high praise from me in this format.
