cinderbitch not them acting like they're doing us a favor too

mira them not reading it and then rating it 🤠 what is this kindergarten shit :) fucking stupid

Matilda I feel like giving this book 5 stars, even if I hate it at this point

Ishika The fact that I'm reading this rn and it is so much more than that one scene that happens after the 90% mark and which might or might not be something that big people are making it out to be (I read the ending first because I couldn't control myself 🤡)

message 5: by Marti (new)

Marti This happens SO MUCH, it's really sad. People don't understand reviews exist to help readers know if a book is for them or not. The fact that you don't like a book is perfectly fine. Giving terrible reviews just because you HEARD a book is bad hurts the author but it also hurts people who are misled by those reviews.

lady d ⚡️ the one star reviewers NOT PUTTING SPOILER WANRINGS?!?!? like you’re entitled to your own opinion but why spoil it for someone who hasn’t read it yet jesus like common decency

message 7: by Amy (new)

Amy Estridh my life is so boring atm that i've been continuously following this going from a 4.5 to 3.6 in one day lmaooo

message 8: by Mareeva (new) - added it

Mareeva Ishika, honestly ppl are just seeing others complain and take their word for it, then jump on the hate train. This is what I call....mental inability to come to your own sound conclusions🤡🥰

message 9: by Mareeva (new) - added it

Mareeva Marti, exactly. doing this elementary school crap does not support your friends, if you want to support them go give ur shoulder to cry on

All they're doing is bringing harm to the author and confusion to everyone else.

message 10: by Mareeva (new) - added it

Mareeva tanaz, so much drama recently I made it especially for addressing shit that pisses me off🤡

message 11: by Mareeva (new) - added it

Mareeva lady, yea that's also a problem

Amy, I've read like one book by this author and it was a 3 star at that, but I just feel bad for her at this point🌚. Imagine a bunch of twt girls who've never even read ur book ganging up on you

message 12: by Pinky (new)

Pinky All of a sudden this feels like some movement, why can't these people chill. If you read a book, rate and review it. If you don't, why the hell are you jumping on the bandwagon like it's some movement. Lord have mercy, Anna this place has turned into Twitter I don't like it 😩😩

Sonia MAREEVA 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Alisonbookreviewer Sad when this happens. I’ve read reviews where they completely shred the author and the book and get commended for it. I think it’s 98% attention seeking tbh. Unfair to the author

Paige ♠ Yahh and blaming “soccer moms haha I don’t understand 🤡

message 16: by Musi (new)

Musi ✨Vegacrux’s first child✨ I simply decided not to read it and too it off my tbr. based on spoilers... poly or rh is def not for me sso but i'm not rating it blindly either.

message 17: by Mareeva (new) - added it

Mareeva Alison, idrc abt people expressing negative opinions abt books or "shredding" them (to an extent obv). But I do think it's wrong to do so when you haven't read it or have any solid ground to base ur opinions on. Jumping on the hate wagon and rating something because you've read a couple of extremely biased tweets is just dumb, whether it's to hate or hype on smth. This is literally the basis behind all misinformation on social media.

message 18: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Maizel AHAHAH I LOVE THIS, and you r right completely

message 19: by Amrit (new)

Amrit Honestly, in this case, for this book, I’m a hater™️ FURIOUS!!! more so that I wasted my life struggling through the others just for this 🙄 having said that, I’ll cry over it, remove it from my shelves and hope that life goes on 🤷🏽‍♀

message 22: by cyra (new) - added it

cyra people rate books 5 stars before reading it too, where's the same energy for that? (i don't think it should be done but it's nothing new)

Ellen @cyra the difference is that people who rate it 5 stars beforehand (because they’re excited about the book) actually read the book and then change the rating to match their opinion. Whereas people who rate it 1 start without reading the book, probably won’t ever read said book and because of that can’t leave an informed opinion about the book.

we can't talk about it generally because sometimes they don't have the time to read the said book for months so it stays there with a 5 star review, but i get your point. i still don't think it's so wrong since the thing going on with this book is a dealbreaker for most people. i remember reading a book and giving it 1/2 stars just because of that one thing that ruined it for me. (i think i should also clear out that i gave the first two books of fbaa 5 stars so my opinion is not about the series)

Ellen @cyra i get that it's a deal breaker for many, and that's fair. My problem lies with the people who didn't even give the book a shot. The spoilers (from what I've seen) have been exaggerated imo, so imo it's also an uninformed opinion. My biggest problem tho, lies with the people who've never read an fbaa book in their life and are giving it 1 star because their friends did not like it. I feel like that's also what the op was saying

Nah if they never read a book from the series, they need to sit tf down. It's not their fight 💀

Andrea (andreasathenaeum) I think I know what people are upset about and if it is what I think it is, I'm BAFFLED that just because something happens that you're not on board with as a reader that you'd disparage the entire series and give such harsh ratings. So over this smh

message 28: by Mareeva (new) - added it

Mareeva cyra, I'm talking about the girls who go "I have never read this but I'm just gonna give it 1 star to support my moots🥰" or "Haven't read it but I'm doing my part in the community🤘"

What fucking community r u talking abt? Sheep incorporated? They aren't rating it because of a dealbreaker, they're doing it to follow a crowd.

Also I don't agree with giving any sort of rating without reading a book or having a solid formed opinion. Whether it's 1 or 5 stars. I know people have always done it, and always will, and tbh idc. What I care about is a mass attack against an author. It's not even about the ratings anymore, she's been getting attacked far more personally. And for what? For being bummed about a plot direction she took? Which most of them haven't even read themselves but heard from somewhere. Give me a break.

Sorry if I sounded harsh. I don't have anything against anyone personally. Just talking abt the mass. This situation has been in my face all week and grating on my nerves😂

message 29: by cyra (new) - added it

cyra she's getting attacked more personally because she tried to manipulate her readers saying they were "interpreting it wrong". even if she was right and thousands of people somehow got the wrong idea, she shouldn't talk like that to her angry supporters. I don't support any hate towards anyone, bullying is no good but jla is handling this situation badly. she is also deleting every and any negative comments on her social media, whether it was justified or not.

it didn't feel harsh because your message is not directed towards me, all is fine 🖤

message 30: by ⚔Iܲí (last edited Mar 17, 2022 04:02AM) (new)

⚔Iܲí⚔ @cyra, she is also deleting every and any negative comments on her social media, whether it was justified or not ehhh so what? If an angry mob mass-attacked you, you'd prolly delete their comments too? Talking to fans/anti-fans and letting them comment in her personal space is her choice. Why the judgment? I'd choose my mental health over some angry ppl from the internet any day. It's not in her job description to attend to ppl who need to take a chill pill. She sells books, you can buy or not buy it, review or not review it. That's about all.

she's getting attacked more personally because she tried to manipulate her readers even if she did, so what? Two wrongs don't make a right. Whatever the reason, if they stoop to personal attacks, they can shut TF about being manipulated and hurt.

Some of you talk as if authors were your personal robot slaves, without feelings and their own will to create and write the way they see fit. It's a creative process lmaooo, things can change, inspiration works in wonderous ways.

Being angry and frustrated is ok but lashing out the way some of you do? That's scary. An angry mob against one person is kinda the energy the situation with the book gives off.
Criticizing a book and imposing your personal beliefs/expectations on another human being are two completely different things. The latter is not fucking okay.

message 31: by ⚔Iܲí (last edited Mar 17, 2022 04:21AM) (new)

⚔Iܲí⚔ @cyra, reading comprehension isn't your thing babe, don't embarrass yourself like that next time.

I just explained the basics of common decency to you but apparently you were not ready for it;)

Ellen @cyra btw criticizing a book is fucking OKAY because why else are we giving reviews lmao?? and one was talking about imposing personal beliefs and expectations so take this fight elsewhere too fella

No ones saying people aren't allowed to criticize a book. Authors (no matter how much you dislike them) deserve a safe space. You can leave criticism on ŷ, Amazon and whatever other reviewing platform you may use. The Facebook groups are safe spaces. That's the key difference.

And no, this is not me justifying what she said about readers misinterpreting the story, because I don't agree with what she said. But what she said also doesn't justify people to attack her and send her death threats??? No she's not innocent in this, but everyone personally attacking her is stooping to her level.

cyra Ellen wrote: "@cyra btw criticizing a book is fucking OKAY because why else are we giving reviews lmao?? and one was talking about imposing personal beliefs and expectations so take this fight elsewhere too fel..."

I totally agree, I guess I'm saying this for the 3rd time but what she did doesn't justify bullying and apparently death threats? (I honestly never saw one but it must be bad.)

No she's not innocent in this, but everyone personally attacking her is stooping to her level. Totally.

This conversation started because I do believe people can have dealbreakers and should be able to leave a one star rating without finishing the book. Then @Mareeva explained that her review was about people who weren't rating it because it was a dealbreaker but were rating it one star to follow a crowd. And it was over till that person decided I was a part of that crowd for saying JLA was in the wrong too.

I do love JLA, I read multiple series from her and ended up rating the first two books of FBAA 5 stars but it doesn't mean I'll close my eyes to shit she's doing.

Rafaela Sousa OMG thank you for your comment. The reaction to this book was like a witch hunt. I'm reading the book right now and so many times the characters talk about not being judged and that things are natural, and that you don't have to have shame. It's contraditory that a book that tries to bring this as a message is being judge by people who didn't even read it. I mean you can not like a book, but I found it so disturbing that we saw all this wave after something that was consensual, white other stories that display romanticization of abuse are praised. It's really a crazy word...

ˏˋ°•*⁶➷C󲹻dzٳٱˏˋ°•*⁶➷ Ok, so I didn't end up finishing the book. I got like 63 pages in, and wanted to see if Serphena and Poppy meet. So I ended up seeing a summary for TWOTQ and found out that Keiran, Poppy, and Casteel do the Joining. Which pissed me off so I dnf'ed the book. I never did find out of Poppy and Sera meet. :/
