i loved that one too!!! so many people didn’t like it cause it was insta-love and ott but i drowned in that shit. i was giggling at 3 am. 😭 so glad you also enjoyed it because i feel like more didn’t like it vs did. hopefully this one doesn’t disappoint! 🤞🏻

yes girl let’s hope!! 🤞🏻 i agree - no matter how “unoriginal they are, they can still be written well. i haven’t read a friends to lovers where they’re on opposite teams (they’re also rivals) so this will be new.

ah well. 😅
let’s just say i only read 5% and gave up, and then i read enough reviews to know i wouldn’t like it. 😭 i will come back to it soon. idk when and i don’t have any urge or desire to read it soon but i will. 😂

elena! this better turns out great because you made me excited 🥲

for starters, i was not a fan of elle kennedy’s off campus series. i know they’re not the same, but it’s still in mind. some of my friends who don’t read mm have also read “him and didn’t even like it. i also dread reading about the miscommunication in this book and i was told it basically continues in book 2, so that’s already frustrating. also, this is a classic mm. it’s overhyped, and we all know how my experiences with overhyped books are. “heated rivarly is the best example of that. HR and Him are probably some of the most read, popular and loved mm series yet… i also heard about the pining not translating into actions, and how wes invalidates jamie’s bisexuality. not surprised to hear that, mostly from EK. i also just KNOW it will have too much sex for a 300 page story. some people literally said they started this just for the sex. 😐 it’s just a lot of hype over the is duology that it’s hard to not have high expectations.
like i said, i’ll read it, just not now when i have other books i’d rather read.

girl my whole mental health is relying on this book. it better be as book as the author is making it sound to be. i take no responsibility for future disappointment. ✋

YES ME TOO!! hopefully this will be a hit!

I absolutely understand not being interested in reading beloved books. Ask Kati how she reacted when I said I feel like the only person alive who doesn’t like Harry Potter. It’s just never been my thing 🤷🏻♀ 💗💗

hmm, i see where you’re coming from. even if wes is confidence on the inside and fragile on the inside, i don’t like how he invalidates jamie’s bisexuality and makes it seem like it only works a certain way. i understand emotions have you make stupid decisions sometimes and makes you think certain ways, but i still think there’s a difference between thinking you’re not enough for someone vs invalidating someone sexuality and thinking they’ll just “go back to who they were before. i’ve never heard of blake so i can’t say anything about him but if you think book 2 wasn’t even needed i can already see myself feeling the same. like i said, i’ll read it at some point and hopefully before this year ends but if i never finish reading it i wouldn’t care.
it’s really not that i’m not interested, it’s just how hyped and loved it is that it’s impossible to not have high hopes and expectations only to be disappointed. that itself makes me a little hesitant just because of my experience with hyped books. as for HP, i didn’t grow up with it either and have no interest in finishing the series so i don’t blame you lol.

Hope it works for u as well - looking forward to your review
