I knew little about the author, other than learning somewhere he was a notable social activist, and even less about his novels.
Over the past year, I’ve noticed ‘Giovanni’s Roomâ€� pop up quite a few times on Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ. As is often the case, I take note of ratings but shy away from reviews if I’m intending to read something.
That proved useful here given this novel and Baldwin’s style were wonderful surprises.
I look forward to his other works.

Glad you came around to Baldwin, finally. Hoping you gravitate to his other works more sooner than later. Such a great author. Definitely one of my favorites.

I watch Baldwin's videos on Youtube relatively often. I highly recommend the documentary I'm Not Your Negro.

Glad you found this author. I think that is one of his best. Th Fire Next Time, and GO Tell It On The Mountain sre also two of my faves.

The first Baldwin I ever read. Although the prose is dazzling you can see the end coming from the first page.
