Talk about a jarring life. Wow. This was a rollercoaster of a ride. Written by Riley Keough and her mom, Lisa Marie Presley.
One can easily see why LM was wild and untamed. She was her father’s daughter. She candidly tells about her life through a series of recordings she left before she tragically passed away.
The raw love she had for her father; the distance between her and her mother; Her closeness with her own children. The identity she continually sought but couldn’t find. The anguish she would have if she didn’t please her father. The trauma, the physical abuse and the drug abuse. It was a life destined to spin out of control.
Riley really provided the insight and intimate details into who Lisa Marie was - outside the portrayal by the public- and what a beam of light she was for many.
The letter to Mama just broke me.
Themes of addiction, abuse, dysfunctional families yet so much love.

What an unbearably sad story, and one I had no idea about! I think it's something we should keep in mind about celebrities. We just never know the pain people may be going through, so maybe we shouldn't be so quick to judge? What an absolute heartbreaker. Thanks for your review, Jen!

But, that also comes with being in the spotlight. A tough life for sure and they all went through some challenges. It was interesting. Thanks Jodi.

Riley Keough is an impressive film producer and human. I am happy to learn that Riley felt close to her mamma cuz I thought LM was a train wreck and couldn't possibly be a good mother. It's wonderful to know another side of a tragic life....

But yes they had a very close bond despite the challenges that LM had.
I liked it a bit more than you. However, I did the audio version which had LM speaking. It was eerie yet powerful. The part of her son’s corpse, IYKYK.
