A slow burn mystery......
The setting is the fictional island of Shearwater. It is a research base housing the world's largest seed bank. The Salt family are the only inhabitants and it is their job to pack up and protect the seeds. Apparently, global warming has wreaked havoc and everything is threatened.
A mystery woman washes ashore during a storm and her connections to the island will slowly reveal.
I was curious to find out what would happen with her, but the way it went didn't seem logical to me.
I listened to the audio which was very well narrated. I didn't connect with any of the characters though and struggled to imagine the scenario that unfolded. It was fine and atmospheric, but I had too many questions in the end.
Lots of rave reviews so I'm an outlier here!

Sorry you were disappointed. I just downloaded the ebook, and I’m tempted to prioritize it, as I’m so curious about this book.
I don't think I actually connected with the characters either but she had me hypnotized from the get to. I was totally caught up in the setting and the plot so for me it actually worked still. Fair review though, Holly.
As they say not all books are for all people. ON to better for you, Holly!

Great review, Holly! I do understand and feel like I missed out on some of the emotion by listening instead of reading it. I did end up quite enjoying it though in the end.

Super review, Holly!! The audiobook wasn’t working for me either. I agree it was hard to connect while listening. I hope you are reading something you are living now.
