I'm reading The Overdue Life of Amy Byler. It's a little slow for me at the moment but I'm hoping it picks up. It seems a lot of people have liked this book.

Nice start to the year! How is Golden in Death? I'm looking forward to reading it when it comes out in a few weeks.

Oh, it’s SO good! I am on a road trip and had to stop when it got dark...that’s new for me since I’ve only read eBooks the last nine years. I have a print ARC for the first time.

I know how that is. I try to get actual books but tons of mine are ebooks. I am not a fan of audio books. I'd rather read it myself and I get way too distracted listening to them. ARCs are fun to read. I get tons of them.
Oh, Ruth Anne, I'm in love with audiobooks, especially in the mystery genre. I do a lot of road trips and they make the miles melt away. And, the field of narrators has exploded with talent.
I actually don’t read print books anymore. But no way was I going to turn down an In Death book! I had to tear through my house looking for a bookmark, abandon reading while bathing (it just didn’t work) and learn how to hold them again😏

Jonetta, I laughed at you writing, "learn how to hold them again". The other day I was reading a paper book and swiped to turn the page. LOL! Of course my daughter saw me do it and looked at me like I was nuts. :)
I'm so glad to hear you are loving Golden in Death.
I decided to put The Overdue Life of Amy Byler aside. I was bored with the book and didn't connect with any of the characters. I started Mr. Write by Lisa Clark O'Neill and I am liking it much better!

No, you're not! And I lamented over the fact I couldn't highlight passages without marking in my book - which I wouldn't do. lol

Lizzie answers a mail order bride article to run away from her over bearing, emotionally and mentally abusive mother. Lizzie has had her hear in the clouds for years of leading an extravagant like in a city like New York. Now she finds herself far from New York and all its glamour. Joseph Kendicott is not what she expects finding out he is hiding from the law. Joseph likes her for herself, not for her dress size or he average looks. At first Joseph wanted a wife so it would be easier to hide. Both finding out they more in common then they thought. This was a fun short story. I really enjoyed it. 5 stars

Ellie Palmer came to Ashbrook with her husband Neal to live a quiet life and run the mercantile. All that changed on the night her husband was found murdered execution style and left on the side of the road. She tried to keep the store going in honor of her husband, but patrons dropped off and she had to sell it. Now she works at the towns Boarding House owned by Mayor Hicks. She also helps former US Marshal Bill Barker at his ranch. Mayor Hicks has wanted Ellie to be his from the first time he saw her. Hicks gets what he wants, no matter! US Marshal Gabe Wilson is injured and left for dead hunting the Morley gang. A group of settlers comes upon him, treats him and drops him off at his retired Marshall's Barker ranch. On that day, all of their lives will never be the same. A town that is held by fear of the Mayor, questionable of Neal Palmers death, threats and the threat of the Morely gang finding Gabe again. I found this to be a fun, exciting, suspenseful read. The characters were strong and believable. I found it to be a fast read. The only criticism I would have is that the dialogue and descriptions were repeated way to much. This was a clean, historical western book. I always enjoy her books. 4 stars
**I was given a free copy and this is my honest review**

Savannah Walton would rather ride horses and shoot guns then become a typical Eastern socialite. The men in her town are threatened and jealous of her gift of riding and shooting. Her aunt proposes that she think about being a mail order bride and head out west. Ethan Waters is a hard working rancher who has taken his late fathers ranch, and working night and day, has turned it into one of the best ranches in the area. His sister continues to push him into finding a wife. Ethan is suspicious of anyone that may take his ranch away from him. So before he meets Savannah, he contacts his lawyer and see's that no matter what happens, she will not get the ranch. He finds more than he bargained for, and falls big time for her. This is a beautiful, clean, historic, western romance. A short read, but very enjoyable. It's predictable, but a great read for a cold winters night. 5 stars

Rose Danvers, the daughter of the Earl of Roxbough has been involved in the theater with her father owning and running it. Both have made a bargain that they would both find love and be happy. For Rose, she seems to have found two men. Daniel Eaton, the Earl of Elbrook, and a mysterious actor who wears a mask name Specter. Secrets arise on who could be evil enough to not only ruin her father and hers livelihood but also endanger lives. Rose makes many discoveries with the help of Daniel and Specter. Some that have now turned her life upside down. This was a wonderful regency historical romance filled with clean romance and mystery and suspense. I truly enjoyed it! 5 stars

Chasing Rainbows: If you believe in fate or magic, this is a book for you. It is a stand alone book without a cliff hanger. A publisher has come up with the idea after being dumped time after time by one night standers, to change her column to where singles write what they really want in a partner, then put it in a bottle and throw it in the water somewhere. No matter what happens, they know they tried and told it like it is. Taylor is a beautiful world known model who's ex exploited her by giving the tabloids nude photo's of her that she had no idea about. She runs home to her fathers ranch home in Montana to lick her wounds not ever trusting another man again. She finds a bottle while fishing one day. Her father Bart is a writer and has been divorced from her mother for many years. Without her knowing, he contacts the writer of the message in the bottle. Quin has been widowed for a few years and is raising an eleven year old...going on 21. After Francie reads this post, she encourages her dad to do the bottle thing. Being a brilliant family lawyer, he doesn't have much hope for finding someone. Until this man calls and invites him to his ranch. This is clean, short story romance. It's a story of trusting, love and second chances. I really, really enjoyed it. 5 stars

I really enjoyed this short, clean, historical romance story. Lord Etienne de Beynac has been banished from his home in France and sent to England to a monastery for his unnoble-like behavior. Being the sixth son of a French earl, he was ignored and mistreated by his brothers and father. So he chose to drink and fight. Lady Philippe, daughter to Baron Franklin Willoughby III, is known for her matchmaking and gala's. Since her mothers death, she has cared for and raised her young brother Franklin who has been the sickly type. Her father is betrothed to a wretched woman who has a wretched son who is constantly bullying Franklin. Philippe's father has informed Philippe that her shenanigans must end and she will be meeting and marrying a Giles de Beynac. Yes, Etienne's brother. But as Lord, or Brother Etienne and Lady Philippe meet, sparks fly in all different directions. This is such a fun story to read. I definitely recommend it. 5 stars

This book had a wonderful plot, but it was ruined for me by the constant repetitiveness, the bad proofing on Kindle, and characters that were so unbelievable. Back in those days, a man would be hung if he made moves on another mans wife, no matter his title he thinks he has. Marcus, the main male character was so immature, Colleen should have left him post haste. There was also too many sub plots throughout the story it was hard to keep track of all the characters and where and who they belonged. It was one of the longest stories I have read in a very long time. I found myself scanning over pages to try and find something interesting. I have read others by this author, so I was shocked on how much I disliked this one. A waste of a good plot. 2 stars
I finished listening to The Neighbor by Lisa Gardner, Detective D. D. Warren #3, and she’s finally front and center for the first time. Here’s my review.
I’m listening to The Highlander by Kerrigan Byrne, Victorian Rebels #3, and I’m already close to finishing! It’s so good!
