P.S. you can't invite people unless your a mod because it must be set to private

Like most of you, I love reading YA novels. The ones I read most of the times falls under the sci-fi, fantasy and urban fantasy genres. I also read a lot of Middle-Grades. Basically, everything under YA but not paranormal romance. I had enough after reading the insanely popular four-part saga, Hush hush and Evermore. I can say I got trauma towards Paranormal Romance after reading those.
As an ending to this introduction, I like to share what one of my favorite and coolest author(and he is also following me on Twitter!!! Beat that!) said in one interview that somehow supports our passion towards these kinds of novels
"Some people look down on romantic fiction, or science fiction, or fantasy, or young adult books, or comics Such people adopt the attitude that these marginalised genres and media are the Morlock
equivalent of “proper writing. Well, to the creators and readers of comics, SF, romances and the rest, I want to say this:
Be not ashamed. If you like something, don’t hide it. Those who scoff at our preferences are pompous, pretentious idiots who are doomed to eternally wallow in turgid “worthy prose. Trust me: they’re only fooling themselves. They’re not having a good time. We are. We’re having fun.
They want to laugh at us? Let them! It’s the only laugh they’re going to get.
Some years back at a science fiction convention, a member of the audience asked the panel - of which I was a member - about the perceived lack of depth in “kids books. Once the other panelists
had their say about why they believed such books occasionally do have great depth, it was my turn to respond I remember this because it was one of those rare moments when I was able to put into words exactly how I felt:
“Depth is not something that the writer puts into a book. Depth is something that the reader takes out of it."
Thanks for the invite Chachic.

and the upcoming Superhuman novel.
*Shameless Author Plugging* lol

I try to read different genres, but I always enjoy YA the most. Chachic is the reason I'm into YA now, and I have a long list of recommended books because of her. Hehe! Thank you for the invite Chachic!

Hello. I am Heidi and know some from the YA Adult Group. Anyhoo I am 30something and love YA and mystery books. I am pretty picky and opinionated as Bluemoon knows :)

Beware, Heidi and I can get into it sometimes because we are both extremely opinionated and picky, but really it's all love and she has never given me a bad book recommendation!!

Now I just can't stop!
Glad I found this group, I have a thing for YA fiction!
My name is Shannen and I'm also a member of the YA Adult group. I'm 30-something too but 40 is creeping up on me too quickly. YA is my favorite genre, especially paranormal/UF YA. I like adult paranormal/UF but always come back to YA.
Bluemoon - I was talking to Heidi last week about starting a monthly group read. Great minds think alike! ;) I want to read The Summoning but don't know that I am going to be able to fit it in before the month is up. Looking forward to the May book and I've already voted in the poll!

Brittany, no worries about not being able to get the book on time. I live in the Philippines and I may have the same problem, depending on the book.

Thanks for being considerate. I'm going to wait and start with the May book I think. So many books right now that I need to read.

Hi Polkweed! Are you saying that you write a note and put it in the library book? I love it!

Welcome (new) Heather! I feel you on the Twilight talk - there are many other books to discuss! I also know how you feel about wanting to talk to others. This place is a godsend for me, before I found it I had been wanted to talk to people about books for years, but didn't want to join a book club, so I love it here :)

I'm a children's librarian in the states, and I don't want to get in trouble expressing my views... *grins sheepishly* so for right now I kind of blog and maintain a web presence seperate from my job. (One of those "the views expressed in this blog are not necessarily those of the blogger's employer").
If anyone's interested in visiting, here's the blog I started a little over a year ago, where most of my reviews are posted:
I'll hopefully/eventually get all the links transfered over, but I just joined Å·±¦ÓéÀÖ last month.
My main attraction to this group was it was smaller than the other YA groups, and it looked like it was started about the same time I joined. I figured I could keep up with discussions easier.

Welcome Ashley! I see you are into vampires. Me not so much, but you are still very welcome here :)

Hello everyone! :) I'm Brigid, I'm 17 years old, and I read anything I can get my hands on. So, in other words, a LOT. :D I'm also a writer and I've written 6 novels. I tried to get one published and it was a fail, but now I'm trying with another one––which made the semifinals of the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest! wooot!––and that's going well so far. I have one agent reading my full manuscript. *squee* I'm also a junior in high school, which is absolutely horrible and I can't wait for the school year to end. Aaaand I live with my large family (6 kids, 8 people total) in a small house. Yay! So, nice to meet everyone. :]
