- Often a good "shut up" is the quickest remedy for hysteria.
(3) Dumbledore forces Sirius and Snape to shake hands. Ever the teacher, ever the students.

(1) Harry's first clue should have been that Crouch always called Voldemort "The Dark Lord." All upright wizards use "He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named." The boldest just say Voldemort.
(2) Wonder if all the lip licking meant David Tennant needed ChapStick on standby?
(3) Karkaroff fled? Who's going to sail the ship back to Durmstrang? Magic, most likely.

Maybe it was just enough to wear off Ron's crush with the somewhat disappointing reality. Now he can see clearly once again.

Now he can see clearly once again."That's sort of along the lines of my first alternative theory. Veela don't actually look beautiful, they trick you into thinking they're beautiful. Once you're kissed, I guess it's like a peek behind the curtain at, as you say, the disappointing reality.
I was wondering about the veela- is there intention in their powers? Like if they want someone to like them just for how they are, can they turn off the veela power

So, my guess is that they can't really turn it off, but can minimize it by doing nothing at all. It may be that something can be done to men to break or lessen the initial allure.
