Notes:
(1) Harry uses three wands at once to stupefy Greyback... makes you wonder whether multiple-core wands are a thing, or why no one owns more than one wand.
- It'd probably be akin to using a machine gun.
(2) "With a little shudder the elf became quite still, and his eyes were nothing more than great glassy orbs, sprinkled with light from the stars they could not see."

(1) My audiobook re-read of "Harry Potter" is nearly at an end. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone for all the great discussion and enthusiasm. It was like having one big buddy-read with hundreds, even thousands, of people. I know many of you friended and followed me because of my "Harry Potter" updates, and I hope you decide to stick around for what comes next :)

Notes:
(1) Voldemort: "Pick up your little friend, Hagrid. And the glasses put on the glasses he must be recognizable "
- Of course, the glasses... otherwise he'd be totally unrecognizable... a regular Clark Kent.
(2) Molly: "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH! ... OUT OF MY WAY! ... Get back! Get back! She is mine!"
- Well, at least we know where Ron gets his foul mouth from.

Notes:
(1) '"Explain," said Harry.
"But you already know," said Dumbledore. He twiddled his thumbs.'
- Always the teacher, Dumbledore. Makes you sound it out.
(2) Dumbledore: "Your wand imbibed some of the power and qualities of Voldemort’s wand ... and it regurgitated some of his own magic against him."
- Yuck! Voldemort magic apparently doesn't sit well in a wand's belly.

Notes:
(1) "He felt his heart pounding fiercely in his chest. How strange that in his dread of death, it pumped all the harder, valiantly keeping him alive."
- I don't find it strange at all. Harry's dreading death, after all.
(2) "He saw the mouth move and a flash of green light, and everything was gone."
- Huh, I thought Voldemort was more proficient in non-verbal spells.

Notes:
(1) "[Harry] heard Snape shout at [Lily] in his humiliation and his fury, the unforgivable word: "Mudblood."
(2) Lily: "You call everyone of my birth Mudblood, Severus. Why should I be any different?"
(3) Phineas Nigellus: "They are camping in the Forest of Dean! The Mudblood "
Snape: "Do not use that word!"
- That, boys and girls, is what we call a "character arc."

Notes:
(1) "A lone clog, the size of a small boat, lay abandoned in front of them. There was no other sign of Grawp or of his attacker."
- Huh, didn't know Grawp was Dutch, wooden shoes and all.
- Kidding. Hagrid found him east of Minsk so he's likely Russian.
(2) Snape: "You’re a witch."
Lily: "That’s not a very nice thing to say to somebody!"
- I mean, what do you expect?

Notes:
(1) Goyle: "You was looking for a die-dum! What’s a die-dum?"
- I bet Goyle will die dumb.
(2) Ron: "If we die for them, I’ll kill you, Harry!"
- Can the dead be killed?
(3) Hermione: "Are you a wizard, or what?"
Ron: "Oh right yeah Wingardium Leviosa!"
- Nice callback to the first book, where the roles were reversed. Also, to the first spell they ever learned.

Notes:
(1) "Running at Ron, [Hermione] flung [her arms] around his neck and kissed him full on the mouth. Ron ... responded with such enthusiasm that he lifted Hermione off her feet."
- Huh, it's a lot more aggressive in the book.
(2) Harry: "D'you think you could just just hold it in until we’ve got the diadem?"
Ron: "Yeah right sorry."
- I bet he's not really sorry.

Notes:
(1) '"Our headmaster is taking a short break," said Professor McGonagall, pointing at the Snape-shaped hole in the window.'
- So much sass.
(2) I find it hard to believe that Dumbledore never knew about the Room of Requirement.
(3) '"It was Ron, all Ron’s idea! said Hermione breathlessly. "Wasn’t it absolutely brilliant?"'
- Ron being brilliant makes Hermione swoon.

Notes:
(1) Harry uses the Cruciatus Curse and McGonagall uses the Imperius Curse. Sure, rules get thrown out when it comes to war, but do the ends justify the means?
(2) In the film McGonagall duels Snape one-on-one until he flees. In the book, it's Flitwick that runs Snape off.
(3) 'Professor McGonagall dryly, "we teachers are rather good at magic, you know."'
- Ha! Sassy.

Daisy and very sad :(

erika That's a good point. I wonder how many wands it would take to overpower the Elder Wand?

Daisy Erika wrote: "That's a good point. I wonder how many wands it would take to overpower the Elder Wand?"

LOTS!

Jayson Erika wrote: "That's a good point. I wonder how many wands it would take to overpower the Elder Wand?"

Well, I guess that depends on whether the Elder Wand is in fact infallible. If it's truly unbeatable in dueling, then no amount of wands by a single combatant would overpower it. But, if it's just an exceptionally powered wand, then the answer may not be as many as you'd think, depending on the caliber of opponent. 🤷‍♂

Sorry, this is not a chat room. This is a comment section for my status update. Comment on the status or reply to existing comments if you like, but this isn't a place to hang out and shoot the breeze about random stuff.

Read the books and you'll know all the names :)

Hanna Rybchynska As we know from the bigining, wands has their own "personality" and they "work normally" with any wizzard. However, when the wand finds the wizzard that has the best matching personality it gets exceptionally good. Maybe it is the same with Elder Wand. Olivander says that its not the wand but the sourcer that uses it that makes it powerful. All the wizzards that had Elder Wand had their dark side and had really powerful magic even without the wand. So, for me, it makes sense that there are more than one wand for every wizzard, depending on the personality and their intensions.

Layla That part was so sad 😭 but at least Dobby's death was more monumental and significant (emotion and circstance wise) compared to others in this book as he died for the person who he looked up to and set him free.

Jayson Hanna wrote: "As we know from the bigining, wands has their own "personality" and they "work normally" with any wizzard. However, when the wand finds the wizzard that has the best matching personality it gets ex..."

I agree. Possibly the Elder Wand is just a normal wand with a placebo effect of being unbeatable, both to the owner and the opponent. I don't see why people wouldn't be able to own more than one wand, unless they're limited by law and all have to be registered with the Ministry or something. 🤷‍♂

Jayson Layla wrote: "That part was so sad 😭 but at least Dobby's death was more monumental and significant (emotion and circstance wise) compared to others in this book as he died for the person who he looked up to and..."

Yes, it's hands-down the most heroic death in the book. Not just rescuing Harry and the others from the Death Eaters, but having to do it at Malfoy Manor, the source of a lot of mistreatment and trauma for him.
