Poppy and Casteel have been my favorite fictional couple ever and their love was written so beautifully in the first 3 books. But this whole new unexpected in another word.. RANDOM situation ruined them for me..

I WAITED SOOOOO LONGGG. And I preordered. I just finished reading it and my heart aches badly. I feel so sad like someone stole my ship and drowned it. I'm not finishing this series. At all.

SAME! This is too much for me to handle. I loved PoppyCas soo very much. Emotional cheating is something I can never handle and reading this triggered my depression. I cried soo much because I felt Casteel was being betrayed by the same two people he'd die for. I was soo looking forward to reading it because I was having a tough time in general. I'm soo soo sad to say that I absolutely hated it.

When tawny said to Poppy that her and Kieran look more like a married couple she said to was complicated I was crush! I expected her to say my husband is A prisoner and being tortured right now. But no she said it was complicated. It gutted me

The way my heart broke in the end of the last book when Cas got captured only to come back to find Poppy and Kieran all loveydovey and Casteels personality shredded to a horny fanboy. I dont understand, all the characters personalities just died in this book!? Did i just read a 700page book that was only really about a threesome? It feels like it

Honestly I am glad I caught this spoiler. I feel more betrayed by the fact that JLA (if I remember correctly) answered questions on Instagram (it’s been some time) and people asked if they were endgame etc and that they are afraid and she was like: she might make her characters suffer but they are endgame and „who hurt you�� (most people had this fear from SJM) 😭
I am really sure something like this was said/written but I don’t have proof. But I always clinged to that. Now I really don’t want to read it and am glad I didn’t read the books yet. I guess I will sell them. I hate when authors are not consistent with their characters and they are suddenly different people.

Yeaaaa no ima pretend this doesn’t exist and believe that book 2 was the last book out because I heard 3 is also garbage.

I have been reading JLA books for years, I even consider her my favorite author and right now I am devastated. I was waiting to read the book when my hardcover comes in May but I don't think I can stomach it. Reading these reviews I am sick to my stomach and not sure I can handle her doing this to poppy and cas's relationship...

No but I feel so heartbroken she completely shredded all of what made me love the characters and their relationships with each other. These were my comfort characters fr I will never stop being mad about this

I'm soooo happy I found those comments! Yesterday I found out that JLa made the joining - I'm currently reading Crown of Gilded Bones - and I saw this spoiler and was devastated! I went to some groups on FB to talk about it but no one understood me and I even got some angry comments from fans that the joining was only natural and normal thing and that it was hinted aaaand that I shouldn't complain because it's not me who wrote the book xdddd I'm so happy I found here people who think alike. I'm completely devastated by what she's done with these characters. Hate it with all me heart and I was sooooooooo freaking in love with Poppy after AKOFAF

The joining was mentioned and JLA assured us it wouldn't happen because Poppy and Kieran were like siblings. Now the book is ruined. I can't look at Poppy the same. I feel like she betrayed Casteel while he was captured. My heart broke. I hate what happened so much I cried for longer than I care to admit. But kudos to all those who enjoyed it. I'm not finishing this series. Let's pretend it ended with The Crown of Gilded Bones.

I pre-ordered it months before the release and read it the moment it was available. So Yes I read the whole book and was a fan of the series from the beginning. If you check out the detailed reviews you can see that most of the people did too. I am glad that you liked it. I wish I did too! But It is important to consider that not everyone will love the same things, can agree with the things happening and see things the same. It doesn't mean that anyone is bad. Its just that we are not the same. Lets respect each others pls lmao

I totally agree with you. Actually i read the books because i enjoy the Romance and epic fantansy Lovestory. I wouldnt have startet the book series if i had known. Dont get me wrong, i am fine with people enjoying it, but for me it doenst work. I feel i bit cheated by JLA because there was no way to Expect before starting reading it. (I know its her book and she can write it how she Wants it to be, that is fine, still i bought the books for me to enjoy it and if i had known before that the romance is not a classical romance, i wouldnt have startet reading it)

I feel you. I actually don't mind RH or poly in books. But I like to know what I am reading from the beginning. In this series nothing was giving that its gonna turn into Poly in the first 3 books. A threesome? yes maybe. But not a throuple. And as someone who read those tropes, I can say that it was a very poor representation of it in this book. Yes she has every right to write whatever she wants! But It was thrown into the book because the loudest part of her readers wanted it. I think JLA forgot the the loudest is not = the majority. She lost thousands of readers. I am very very sad because it was my comfort series :( but I am still glad that others liked it. I wish I did too.. really.

Yep, so true. The throuple thing is really, really heartbreaking. But for me "only a threesome" at the joining wouldnt have worked as well with all the heartmate Stuff. I might have overloked it, but i would have hated it. There would also be no reason to make it Sexual.

Honestly, I agree. This was by far one of my favorite series and this really ruined it for me. What, for some, may seem to be a small part of a big puzzle for me is a huge part. It was something that really tarnished a book that I loved. I did not finish it and do not see myself finishing the series.

Agreed! JLA definitely spent too much time on booktok. It was all filler to basically alter the relationship dynamics. So poorly executed. My review on it has spoilers but I did not hold back. It was so bad. The only reason I didn’t DNF is because my friend who was starting it asked me not to. I don’t think I have it in me to continue this series.

Wow guys, ease off. I thought that JLA did a great job on the whole plot of the story. Just because this book or series wasn't the greatest for you, don't just complain on the internet. Now, I respect your opinion 100% but I can guarantee not everybody agrees, me included. I don't believe it was poorly executed. Put this into perspective - try and write a 6-book series that isn't "poorly executed." Furthermore, to those who have or are still reading, 'eveningstar,' don't let the reviews stop you from finished. If you don't like the book, that completely fine, but don't let the haters ruin it for you!

Yeah, they mad. Lol. While I can understand the disappointment of not knowing before you started the series, she did give clues that this could/might happen. I am glad not all her fans are upset by this, because I am excited to see this play out. I’m like, where is the next book already!? Give me more! Sorry if this ruined it for you though. There are PLENTY of other books with MF romances that are far better than these two were. I actually think I like them more because of the direction that was taken.

The most tragic thing is people lusting over the throuple don‘t see how incredibly racist this all is. Poppy and Cas are married and heartmates. She is white, he has tanned skin. The third person or in the story rather like the third wheel �� Poppy and Cas always look to each other first, think of each other first �� is a Black man. And also a shapeshifter who transforms into an animal, there to please when the two married heartmates are into it. Good gods.
