bookshelves: hockey, 3-star-mm-reads

A low angst hockey romance with a gay superstar and a case of hero worship that is actually a bi-awakening.

This book was four stars for me in the first half, but really lost my interest and I skimmed most of the second half. I was all for the instalove and the adorable professions of love between the two MCs, but it became a little repetitive and a bit too sugary sweet for me to want to stay invested.

I also think this book had too many pages dedicated to describing the hockey games. It worked in the middle, but it became repetitive just like the romance aspects. I like when something outside of the MCs is used to drum up suspense and tension, but this was just boring. It really seemed liked filler to make the book longer.

I loved these two MCs and really enjoyed them in the beginning and the end.

Kati *☆・゚ I didn’t wanna say it but it was too much hockey for me too. But I think someone who enjoys the game irl might enjoy this very much. I haven’t read TBs other sport romances but I think it’s a thing he does.

Rielle @Kati- Definitely too much hockey. Maybe if I knew more about the sport I would have enjoyed it, but I also don’t come to my romance novels expecting to need to be well-versed in a specific topic. 😂

Imme van Gorp I agree so much with what you said! The first half really had me invested and I thought it was going to be great, but the complete overkill of sappiness ruined it for me. I just ended up bored with it🫤 It definitely felt like wasted potential to me..
Amazing review! I’m sorry this one didn’t work for either of us!

len ❀ damn it sucks how if was a four stars in the beginning and it just went down :/ i don’t mind too many homey descriptions luckily but i definitely understand how it becoming repetitive can flatter your enjoyment. at least it wasn’t a total miss!

Rielle @Imme- Overkill of sappiness is a good way of describing this book. I agree with you on that. Sorry it didn’t work for you either!

Rielle @elena- It’s always so frustrating when something starts strong, but you’re right…at least it wasn’t a total miss!
